Changes to Payap Terms of Use

24 Oct 2025
Notices
Effective from 7 November 2025
We’re making changes to the Payap Terms of Use to clarify how Payap payments work.
The changes are:
amending how Payap is described in clause 4 to: “Payap is an app on your phone that links to your New Zealand bank accounts…”
amending the first bullet point under clause 4 to: “instruct payments, where Payap is enabled.”
amending the second bullet point under clause 4 to: “quickly and easily instruct transfers to other New Zealand bank accounts.”
removing the third and fourth bullet points under clause 4: “receive payments made to you via Payap” and “manage your money.”
amending the fifth bullet point under clause 4 to: “access insights about your payment activity.”
removing the words “in itself” from clause 7 so it reads: “Payap is not a means of payment.”
clarifying in clause 7 that the intermediary settlement account is held by Bank of New Zealand.
replacing “payment initiation services” with “payment instruction services” in clause 9.
clarifying in clause 9 that the terms of your bank account provider or debit card issuer are applicable to payments made “by using instructions via Payap.”
