Effective from 12 October 2026 

We’re making changes to the Payap Terms of Use, Payap Privacy Policy, and Payap Rewards Terms. These changes clarify how peer-to-peer payments are supported, how Payap works, including how users can find each other in Payap, how profile information may be shown, and how Payap points and benefits work. 

The Terms of Use changes clarify that: 

• Payap supports peer-to-peer payments, including how users may send, request and receive payments using Payap; and 

• Payap may suspend, restrict or close a user’s access to Payap where appropriate, including where the user has behaved aggressively or abusively towards Payap or BNZ staff. 

The Privacy Policy changes clarify that: 

• other Payap users may be able to find you in Payap, including by searching for information such as your Payap username; 

• when another Payap user looks you up to pay or request payment from you, they may see your Payap username and your bank-sourced full name so they can confirm who they are paying or requesting payment from; 

• your bank-sourced full name is used as an anti-impersonation control and cannot be edited or hidden in Payap; 

• you may choose to share further profile information in Payap, where that feature is enabled; 

• you can contact Payap customer support if you need help blocking another user; 

• Payap will collect information such as linked app information, location information, contact information and historical transaction information only where you enable the relevant feature; and 

• Payap may disclose personal information overseas, and will do so in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. 

The Rewards Terms changes clarify that: 

• once Payap Points have been redeemed or a Payap Rewards Benefit has been issued, that redemption cannot be reversed and the Payap Rewards Benefit cannot be returned, exchanged, substituted or altered, except where required to comply with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993; and 

• any specific promotion terms will prevail to the extent of any inconsistency or conflict with the Rewards Terms.
